How’s the summer going guys? I hope its awesome and everything you imagined it would be! By now you’re probably starting to think about what’s going to happen when you leave camp, your travels and (hopefully) how the process for returning to camp next summer works. Well, don’t worry, because CCUSA are here to tell you all about it in our very last Q&A interview of the series.
1. I want to travel after camp, would you recommend booking it before camp?
This really is down to personal preference. You are guaranteed to meet people are camp who want to visit the same places at you so the most common thing for people to do is book their travel while at camp. We also have a partnership with TrekAmerica and we get a 10% discount with them, so if you want to go ahead and book a trek with them, then head to their website >> www.trekamerica.co.uk
2. How long can I travel after camp for?
On the J1 visa that you travel on you have 30 days to travel America before you need to head home. You can stay for all 30 days if you wish, or you can come home earlier. However, there is no option to overstay this. If you do, then you may never be allowed to come back to America again. Please note that there are 31 days in August – NOT 30! You will be very surprised at how much of America you can see in 1 month.

3. Can I go to Canada or Mexico after camp? How does this affect my visa?
You can go to Canada or Mexico after you have finished at camp but it does make everything more complicated. We would not recommend this if you can help it just to avoid all of the hassle. However, if it is something you want to go ahead and do then please contact the office asap so we can talk you through the process.
4. I LOVED camp. How can I stay involved once the summer is over?
The great news is… you can return to camp as many times as you like. It is very common for applicants to go back to camp for years and years after they completed their first summer. And what is even better is the application process is even more simple because we don’t need as much information from you. Once you get home you can just apply again online and indicate that you are returning back to camp. If you don’t want to go to camp again, but still want to stay involved, then there is also another option. You can apply to be a specialist for us. These are the people who interviewed you all before being accepted on the program. We give you all of the training you need and support you through the year. If this is something that interests you then keep an eye on your emails over the summer as applications will open during the summer while you are still at camp.

5. I want to return to camp next summer. What’s the process?
To return to camp next year it is very simple. When you get home, all you need to do is log onto footprints and indicate that you are returning to the same camp. We will need to see a contract from camp saying they are happy to have you back before we can go ahead and process your application. And that is as simple as it gets.
